Junior Perl Programmer with Degree - Southampton Perl programmer with degree and some Perl experience is required. The successful candidate will be competent in Perl and have some experience with C and*or C++, preferably in a Linux or Unix environment. Network (socket) programming for any of the above languages is highly desirable, as is an understanding of IPChains and IPTables. Reasonable HTML knowledge (i.e. the writing CGIs) is expected. Knowledge of secure programming techniques is needed. You must have an understanding of what makes up a Linux distribution Experience of the following would be beneficial: The following experience would be beneficial: IP networking; firewalls and VPNs; content filtering products; daemons in C*C++; Windows programming; email and anti-virus solutions; and testing methodologies. Responsibilities will include the development of new modules and features for existing products; testing of new and updated software; reviewing of manuals and other documentation to check accuracy and conformance with the software; and assistance to the support team to help them resolve problems when necessary.
